Capay Valley Project
Sheba Farms is on a mission to bring the ancient Ethiopian grain, Teff, to California. This effort aims to promote sustainable agriculture, support local farmers, and meet the growing demand for healthy, gluten-free options.
Our 5-acre plot in Capay Valley is ready for Teff planting. With your help, we can prepare the land, acquire seeds, and support the labor needed for planting, care, and harvest. This proof-of-concept project is essential to scaling our vision.

Zion's Story
Born in Ethiopia and inspired by its rich culinary traditions, Zion Taddese has always been passionate about food and community. For over 20 years, she has shared the flavors of her heritage through Queen Sheba restaurant in Sacramento, creating a space where culture and cuisine come together.
Now, Zion is expanding her vision with Sheba Farms, bringing Teff farming to California. Her mission is to honor Ethiopia’s agricultural legacy while addressing the growing demand for healthy, sustainable crops. Zion is committed to making Teff accessible, supporting local farmers, and promoting healthier communities.

We promote sustainable farming practices, provide education and training, and support climate resilience to create a healthier and more sustainable world.
What we aim to do

Community Farming
We aim to assist local communities in developing sustainable farming practices, providing them with the resources and knowledge they need to grow healthy crops. We aim to improve food security and foster economic growth through community farms.

We aim to offer training in sustainable agriculture, community health, and climate resilience. We aim to provide hands-on learning experiences and workshops to equip individuals with the skills they need for sustainable livelihoods.
We aim to do research initiatives that focus on innovative agricultural practices and climate-resilient crops. We aim to produce research that shows Teff's promising results, contributing to better yields and its nutritional benefits.
